ChecksOn.Me was created in the wake of the pandemic, when the hospitality industry urgently needed more flexible payment solutions. While new technologies emerged, one critical gap remained: bar customers still couldn’t open a tab using their digital wallets. ChecksOn.Me is on a mission to change that.
The idea was first conceived in late 2020 by Kali, co-founder and CEO. With years of experience as both a bartender and restaurant manager, combined with a career as a software engineer in the FinTech space, Kali brought firsthand knowledge of the industry’s challenges and the technical expertise to solve them. After sharpening her engineering skills at several software companies, including a FinTech specializing in digital payments, she reconnected with former colleague Shelley, now leading brand and go-to-market strategy as co-founder and CMO, and together the team began building ChecksOn.Me into reality.

Kali
Co-founder and CEO
Bringing two decades of front-line experience in the bar industry to her engineering career, Kali is a specialist in greenfield application development using niche technologies. She focuses on Flutter, leveraging its power to build seamless cross-platform experiences for web, mobile, and various extensions. Kali is a strong advocate for technical community and mentorship, serving as a mentor to women in engineering, leading the Flutteristas conference in April 2025, and having presented at FlutterCon USA twice.

Shelley
Co-founder and CMO
With 16 years of experience in marketing, design, and business development, and a career spanning both nightlife and fintech, Shelley brings creative vision with strategic execution. Having previously founded and exited a tech startup of her own, she combines entrepreneurial insight with a deep understanding of brand and customer engagement. After years of serving as a fractional CMO in fintech, Shelley now leads design, marketing, and sales at ChecksOn.Me, complementing Kali’s technical expertise with a clear focus on growth, user experience, and market positioning.
